Quotation marks and punctuation
Monday, April 23rd, 2007The official rule is that punctuation for a sentence goes on the inside of the quotation marks, right?
example: Eminent Scholar writes, “quotes go on the outside.”
But punctuation goes on the outside of parentheses, unless it’s part of the parenthetical phrase, right?
example: Eminent Scholar (2007) writes, “quotes go on the outside” (p. 124).
