My roommate/landlord is moving his fiance in from California, so my well-behaved dog and I are looking for a nice place in Madison to sublet or rent until we have sufficient savings to buy our own place. Please tell me if you know of a place that has some or most of the following:

• allows good dogs
• within 2 miles of downtown (South or East-sde preference)
• large 1 bedroom, or 2 bedroom (want studio space)
• off-street parking
• close to dog park (Quann, Brittingham, or Yahara Riverside?)
• $500-800-ish/month

I’m not fussy about the general state of repair of the place, and actually prefer a certain level of “charm.” I’d like the landlord to not be a jerk. Sunlight is important. A fenced in back yard would be sweet, but not needed. A (dry) basement would be lovely lovely lovely.
