News (January 2010)

I finished my PhD in Curriculum & Instruction, and graduated in December of 2010. For my research, I examined the cultural implications of learning when deeply tied to a place-based activity.

My dissertation was titled "Learning in Place: Locative Technologies and Handheld Augmented Reality Games" and was completed under Dr. Kurt Squire. You can read about our approach to Augmented Reality (AR) technology and games on my AR page.

I am currently employed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Department of Information Technology as a Learning Consultant. My job is to identify and evaluate new technologies that can be used in teaching and learning, develop them, and help faculty integrate them in their teaching and research.

I've also recently begun to feel like I've got roots in Madison, after nearly 10 years.
